In Texas if you kill a U.S. citizen then you die by the state. Now if only there was a penalty like this for those criminal aliens.
The state of Texas executed Humberto Leal Garcia, 38, on Thursday, hours after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a bid by the Obama administration to spare the life of the Mexican national accused in the 1994 rape-murder of a San Antonio teenager, the Associated Press reported.
An attorney for Leal, Sandra L. Babcock, criticized the court's decision.
“Today the United States stumbled in its commitment to the rule of law. Mr. Leal, tragically, will suffer the consequences. He will be executed tonight, despite the fact that his right to consular assistance was violated. If he had had the assistance of the Mexican consulate at the time of trial, Mr. Leal would have had a meaningful opportunity to show that he was not guilty of capital murder," a statement from Babcock said. Lawyer Babcock needs to understand that he was found guilty by a jury of his peers. His sentence was death and that was what he got, unlike Casey Anthony.
